As a reminder, wireless providers will also play a role in the process of upgrading in certain areas, so just because Sony Ericsson says it's ready does not mean you'll be able to get it.
The latest news from Sony Ericsson regarding corporate developments for the latest version of Android. A day after Google announced that it was releasing the source code of Ice Cream Sandwich, Sony Ericsson confirmed that it will bring the latest version of Android for the entire portfolio of 2011 Xperia. All Sony Ericsson Xperia-branded phones released this year should expect an update.
Following the lead of HTC LG last week and then a few days earlier, Sony Ericsson is the third company to provide an update on the intention to plan the whole portfolio of Android for Ice Cream Sandwich. We can only hope that these companies are moving quickly and managed to get the ICS on the phone in a timely manner. And let's hope Sony's purchase of the company did not provide any delay.
Sony Ericsson promised to update all such devices, but not promised date. The source code is still fresh and Sony will need time to build the UI's and adjustments on the Ice Cream Sandwich.
ICS is a dramatic shift from Gingerbread, so it will not happen overnight. However, Sony Ericsson said it is working hard to combine the Xperia and ICS, and will provide more solid details about the availability of the date when the time comes.
