January 07, 2012 | By Andro ID

Activations double since Honeycomb update, Google TV activations,  - Regardless of the mistakes that may have been made in its 2010 launch, Google hasn’t given up on Google TV just yet. In fact, the company just announced that several manufacturers will be displaying new GTV wares at next week’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.

On the Google TV Blog, Mickey Kim announced that there will be new partners at CES showcasing Google TV products. Among them are LG, Marvell, MediaTek, Samsung, Sony, and Vizio. Several of these companies were rumored to exhibit GTV at CES 2011, but Kim confirmed that will take place at CES 2012. Marvell and MediaTek are chipset manufacturers who do things behind the scenes, but all of the other companies listed will have consumer products on display.

Kim also revealed some interesting tidbits on Google TV. For starters, there are now more than 150 apps that were specifically built for the platform, and “thousands more” Android apps that are compatible. He also states that since the recent Honeycomb update that added apps and a new navigation, activation rates for Google TV has more than doubled. In other words, more people who previously cast their Logitech Revue’s aside have given Google TV another shot. And users who waited patiently for the update before grabbing a Revue or Sony Internet TV/Blu-Ray player are finally starting to enter the scene.
